Home Front	Part 57 of The Great War periodical is published. This week's edition covers "The French Advance Towards Lens and the Battle of The Labyrinth."
Western Front	The Aisne: Heavy fighting round Noyon and Reims.
Eastern Front	Poland: Russians take Sandomierz.
Naval and Overseas Operations	South-west Africa: British occupy Lüderitz Bay (which Germans had evacuated militarily on 10 August).

↑ The King's Speech at the Prorogation of Parliament roused remarkable enthusiasm, members rising in their places and singing the National Anthem. "We are fighting for a worthy purpose, and shall not lay down our arms until that purpose has been fully achieved."
