The following timeline provides a simple chronological listing of events relating to Great Britain.
1914
| 18 July | Review of the Fleet at Spithead until 20 July. |
| 26 July | Fleet ordered not to disperse. |
| 3 August | Naval reserves called up. |
| 4 August | Ultimatum to Germany; Army mobilised and State of War with Germany. |
| 6 August | Credit of £100,000,000. |
| 12 August | Declaration of war with Austria. |
| 18 September | Parliament prorogued. |
| 5 November | Declaration of war with Turkey. |
| 11 November | Parliament re-opened. |
