1915 (Wednesday)

Western Front First Battle of Champagne ends (see 20 December, 1914).
Eastern Front Austrians, reinforced, try to cross the River Pruth in Bukovina.
Political  ▶  Diplomatic: French Government lodge claim with British Government to Syria and Cilicia (see 26 April, 1916).  ▶  General Sir Ian Hamilton takes over command of Dardanelles Expeditionary Force (see 12 March and 15 October).  ▶  Mr. John Redmond gives speech at a great patriotic meeting held in the Free Trade Hall, Manchester.
