Western Front  ▶  Battle of St. Eloi begins; Germans attack south of Ypres.[a]  ▶  Belgians make progress in the bend of the Yser and south of Dixmude.  ▶  Violent German attacks fail between Four de Paris and Bolante Plateau.
Eastern Front Continued Russian success in the district of Przasnysz.
Naval and Overseas Operations German cruiser SMS Dresden sunk by British warships off Juan Fernandez[b] (see 8 December 1914, and 26 April 1915).
Political Mushir ed Dowleh succeeds Mustaufi ul Mamalek as Persian Prime Minister (see 19 August 1914, and 26 April 1915).

Notes

  1. The German offensive at St. Eloi resulted in the capture of the village and part of the British front line system. Counter attacks resulted in the recovery of the village and most of the lost ground.
  2. The German cruiser SMS Dresden, which escaped from the battle of the Falklands Isles, was sunk by British warships off the island of Juan Fernandez in Chilean territorial waters.
