Timeline

The following timeline provides a simple chronological listing of events relating to Forest of Argonne.

1914

15 September German advance begins; continues until 21 October.
21-29 October French recovery begins.

1915

3, 5, 22, 23, 27 & 30 January and various dates throughout February to June Fighting takes place in the forest.
30 June Unsuccessful enemy attack.
2-4 July, 12-15 July & 26 July Repeated heavy German attacks checked by the French.
1-3 August, 7, 11 & 13 August German attacks and continued heavy fighting.
2 August Liquid fire attack near Marie Thérèse.
8, 9, 27 & 28 September Heavy artillery and violent fighting.
1-10 October, 7-16 October Continued fighting.
