Western Front  ▶  French take two lines of German trenches north of Mesnil.  ▶  Liquid fire (flamethrower; German: flammenwerfer) first used by the Germans against the French near Verdun in the Forest of Argonne.
Eastern Front Russians report German retirement near Przasnysz.
Southern Front Dardanelles: Straits swept clear for four miles.
