Western Front Ypres again attacked by Germans.
Political Publication of Mr. Bonar Law's letter to Mr. Asquith on 2 August.[a]

Notes

  1. At an informal meeting of Unionist Chairman and Parliamentary Agents, the contents of the letter sent by Andrew Bonar Law and Lord Lansdowne to H. H. Asquith, Sunday 2 August, 1914, was divulged. In their opinion and that of colleagues consulted, the security and honour of the United Kingdom would be jeopardised if the Government hesitated to support France and Russia. Offer support of opposition to any measure deemed necessary for that object.
