Western Front  ▶  French take, but fail to hold, a wood near Souain (Champagne).  ▶  Germans take Xon signal station and village of Norroy, near Pont-à-Mousson.  ▶  German attack in Lauch valley (Alsace).
Eastern Front  ▶  Germans take Russian positions before Lyck.  ▶  Fierce fluctuating struggle in Carpathians.
Asiatic and Egyptian Theatres British surprise Turks at Tor (Gulf of Suez), killing 60; 102 prisoners.
