- German attack stopped at Bagatelle (Argonne).
- French air raids on German aviation camps in Belgium and Lorraine.
- Russian cavalry defeat German cavalry in northern Poland.
- Russians take Cigielka (Carpathians).
- Trawlers Jason, Gloxinia and Nellie sunk in North Sea by submarine SM U-10.
- American Note to Great Britain on the blockade.[note 1]
- Correspondence between Great Britain and Germany as to submarine crews taken prisoner by former, published.[note 2]
- Austria offers Italy a rectification of frontier in the Trentino.[note 3]

- ↑ America asserted the right to carry innocent shipments through neutral countries; declared the inclusion of neutral ports in the blockade to be novel and expected that England should respect the rights of neutrals.
- ↑ Germany declared that prisoners from submarines were not treated as prisoners of war. Great Britain answered that their treatment was better than that of British prisoners of equal rank in Germany and that prisoners from submarines were not honourable opponents, having been engaged in killing non-combatants.
- ↑ Austria offered district of Rovereto, Riva, Tionne, excluding Madonna di Campiglio, neighbourhood of Trento, and district of Borgo up to Lavis.
