Western Front Arras bombarded by the Germans.
Eastern Front  ▶  Poland: Three German Divisions nearly encircled at Lodz, escape through delay of Rennenkampf.  ▶  Hungary raided by Russian cavalry.
Political Poland: Polish National Council issues in Warsaw a manifesto emphasising necessity of a thorough defeat of the Germans.
