- The first British Territorial division (the North Midland)[note 1] leaves England for France.
- French progress north of Mesnil (Champagne).
- Germans cross the River Niemen near Sventsiansk, and take Przasnysz, with 10,000 prisoners and 20 guns.
- Russians take Mozely, near Bolimov.
- Loss of HMS Clan McNaughton, auxiliary cruiser, is announced.
