The broken spur

From The Great War On This Day

The broken spur: The historic badge adopted as "Divisional Sign" by the 74th Division, as commemorating the self-sacrifice in assenting to be transformed from Yeomanry into an Infantry Division for service on Gallipoli and in Palestine. Painted on a board the sign was displayed swung from a staff at Divisional Headquarters. [1]
