Commodore

From The Great War 1914-1918

Commodore: A temporary rank in the Royal Navy between that of admiral and captain. He has usually charge of a few ships told off for a special service. It is sometimes a courtesy title of a senior captain. A first class commodore's pay is £1,095 a year. [1]
