From The Great War 1914-1918

A bolo: A spy. In allusion to Bolo Pasha, the French adventurer executed for espionage and treason in 1918. Also, meaning "Bolshevik." In use among men serving with the Expeditionary Force in North Russia in 1918. [1]

To bolo: (Hind.) To speak, for example, to bolo the bat - to speak the language. [1]
