Western Front Germans repulsed at Le Quesnoy-en-Santerre (Roye).
Eastern Front Poland: Germans in retreat move their headquarters back to Chenstokhov.
Southern Front Montenegro: Invasion by Albanians checked.
Political  ▶  Great Britain declares war on Turkey and annexes Cyprus.  ▶  The Kaiser is removed from the Navy List.  ▶  Italy: Salandra Cabinet reconstructed.[a]

  1. Baron Sonnino is made Minister of Foreign Affairs. General approval. Hopes entertained Minister will bring about reconstruction of Balkan League for protection of Italian interests. Salandra as Premier; Carcano in Treasury; Daneo in Public Works.
