This is a documentation subpage for Template:W1.
Template:W1 (Wikipedia1) is used for linking to Wikipedia without having to type out the full link, e.g., [[w:world War I|World War I]]. Instead, you only need to type out the title once {{w1|World War I}}, which generates the following output World War I.
This is fine if the Wikipedia article title is worded how you want it to appear in your text. However, this may not be the case. An example of this would be if you want to link to the World War I page, but wanted to call it 'First World War' or 'The Great War'. In this case you will have to use Template:W2 (Wikipedia2) and type it very similar to the original method, but with the added label parameter.
Typing {{w2|World War I|The Great War}} generates the following output The Great War.
In most cases using Template:W1 will suffice.
