This template is used on the main [[:Category:Great War Index|Great War Index]] category page. It'sIts sole purpose is to find pages beginning with a specific letter of the alphabet, and list them in order from the top left of the results. It does not just show page-links beginning a specific letter, but instead continues to show page-links following on from the selected letter.

As expected, included are all 26 letters of the English alphabet. "Top" is the link to take the reader back to the main category page where the results begin with the letter "A". As the number of pages within the index increases, this template may include additional search options for eachmultiple letterletters, ''e.g.'' Ab Ac, Ba, Be, Ca, Ce etc.

Currently, the maximum number of results per category page is 200. If the selected letter is D and there are 54 page-links beginning with that letter, then the 5555th page-link in the list will begin with the letter E, and continue until the end of the results for that block of 200. Links to the next or previous pages are located at the top and bottom of the first column of results.
