Heroine of Loos

From The Great War On This Day

Heroine of Loos: Mademoiselle Emilienne Moreau, a girl of seventeen. During the Battle of Loos in September, 1915, she saw some Germans firing on British wounded in a cellar. Going to the rescue she killed three with hand grenades and a revolver. She was publicly decorated with the British Military Cross by the British Ambassador in Paris.[1]
