Cuckoo plane

From The Great War On This Day

Cuckoo plane: A newspaper name for a type of Sopwith Aeroplane, or "Torpedo Plane," designed for dropping torpedos. The name was given in allusion to the Cuckoo's habit of laying eggs in other birds' nests.[1]
