Baby Killers

From The Great War On This Day

The Baby Killers: The term applied by Mr. Winston Churchill when First Lord of the Admiralty, to the German Raiders at Scarborough, December, 1914. Writing to the Mayor of Scarborough he said, "Whatever feats the German Navy may hereafter perform, the stigma of the 'Baby Killers' will brand its officers and men while sailors sail the seas."[1]
