Eastern Front | Poland: Russian line shattered by Mackensen between Rzgov and Kolyushki, south-east of Lodz: critical situation. | |
Asiatic and Egyptian Theatres | Mesopotamia: British troops make formal entry into Basra. | |
Naval and Overseas Operations | ▶ Zeebrugge bombarded by British squadron. | ▶ German submarine U-18 rammed and sunk; its crew saved. |
