  • Severe fighting for the Uzsok Pass (Carpathians).
  • Austrian gunboat shells Belgrade.
  • Albanians bombard Durazzo.
  • Belgian relief ship Harpalyce torpedoed.
  • White Book published, containing correspondence between the British Government and the US Ambassador on German treatment of prisoners of war and interned civilians.[note 1]
  • German Note to USA protesting against the unneutral conduct of America.
  • Pope Benedict XV orders prayers for peace.[note 2]

  1. White Book containing correspondence between British Government and American Ambassador in London; British treatment of German prisoners better than German treatment of British prisoners.
  2. Memorandum declared that USA was unneutral in allowing export of munitions to the Allies.
