'Erb

From The Great War On This Day

'Erb: A wag. A funny fellow — e.g., "He's a regular 'Erb." Used also colloquially in addressing any man whose name was unknown to the speaker, equivalent to "fellow" — e.g., "Here you 'Erb, I want you." From the typical cockney pronunciation of the name Herbert.[1]
